This site was created on a PC running Windows XP. All the pages are written in HTML on NoteTab. Yes, I write all of the pages by hand. I have never, and will never, use FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or any of those other crappy WYSIWYG editors. (No offense to those who use them.)
Any Javascript used in the site probably came from The Javascipt Source. Everything I know about HTML I learned from HTMLGoodies. I make my images with Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Abode ImageReady 2.0
This site is viewable through both Internet Explorer and Netscape, although I would highly recommend viewing the site through IE. (I would recommend viewing the whole internet through IE!)
Ktnb is a variation of my initials. Kt is short for Katie, N is my middle inital, and B is my last initial. I've been using Ktnb as a user name since 1994 - my dad came up with the name for me to use as my AOL screenname. Odds are, if you see Ktnb somewhere, it's me.
The oldest site in the collective is The Jedi Hurtaholics Archive, which opened on July 14, 1999.
The Katie Collective has gone through many different names and designs. The first version was created in 1995 on Geocities (this was back when Geocities was a new company, and they were pretty much the only place offering free sites).
I have maintained sites for General Hospital fanfiction, a fan club for the movie "Newsies", and a site for Port Charles sound bytes. I also had a generic site about myself, complete with everything a person who is just starting out with HTML would use - animated gifs, blinking words, different font colors throughout the page, etc.
I also maintained a website for the television show "Dawson's Creek" (stop laughing!) It was the first time I ever made a site that people actually visited, and it's still one of the most popular websites I've ever run. The site was so popular in fact, that in December of 1998, someone hacked into the site and changed my index page so that it redirected my visitors to their Dawson's Creek site. I e-mailed Geocities about it, since both sites were being run on their servers, but they did absolutely nothing. In fact, everything from the site is still there, including the index page that was hacked and the fanfiction section of the site. Obviously, after this fiasco, I never used Geocities again.
I tried making sites with Tripod and Angelfire, but they both sucked worse than Geocities (as if that could be possible). Eventually, I discovered Dencity, which was where I originally hosted The Jedi Hurtaholics Archive. I was pretty happy with Dencity, but then they started cracking down on people that were hosting adult content on their sites (NC-17 stories are considered adult content) and so I had to move my site.
Someone told me about Squidge, which is the most perfect place someone could run a free site with adult content. Once I got a site with Squidge, I started making more and more websites, and eventually I realized that it was time for me to take the final step in website design and actually register a domain name. (I was running out of space on Squidge, and I didn't was tired of sucking bandwidth from other people.) So, in February, I registered ktnb.net and this site was born. *g*
