Knitting progress!
First and foremost, this is going to be a test to see if I can crosspost between my knitting blog and my LJ. Why do I have a knitting blog when I already have LJ? Well, many, many knitters are not on LJ, and I feel weird linking my LJ to my Ravelry account. So, I’m finally trying to put the blog I installed on my website years ago to good use.
I finally got around to taking pictures of my current projects and uploading them to Ravelry. It’s possible that I’m on a bit of a shawl kick.
Ah, fantasies
I just dazed off into a daydream about having a handsome, obedient man…help me with the 1300 yards of laceweight yarn I have sitting in my room waiting to be hand-wound.
Knitters have strange fantasies sometimes, y’all.
Stupid pretty yarn…
If anyone needs me, I’ll be over here having a yarngasm. Oh, how I wish I had the patience for socks.
Knitting and…music!
Oh, how this song will be stuck in my head all night. *sways to the beat and laaaaughs*
Yes, I am actually knitting things right now…
So, since someone keeps asking for pictures…
I might be slightly obsessed
It’s entirely possible that I just spent fifteen minutes staring at this photo to figure out the pattern of Jared’s scarf. *looks shifty* At least now I can focus on how unbelievably pretty he is, like I should be.
Ravelry!
So, I finally got a Ravelry invite, and have been playing around with as many of the features as I can. I’ve added all of my projects into my notebook, but I haven’t found a good spot in my house in which to take pictures of the works-in-progress, so everything is still empty. And I haven’t even begun to enter my stash items in. That might be a good idea though, if only to give me an excuse to organize my stash into one place. If nothing else, Ravelry is making me realize that I’m not nearly as crazy as I think I am for having like, five projects on needles, since there are people with way more than that on the site.
*hides in shame*
*facepalm* There are few things more humbling than finding out that the problem you’re having with your pattern has nothing at all to do with the pattern itself, and has everything to do with the fact that you learned how to do a yarn over in completely the wrong way.
There’s No Such Thing As Too Many Lifelines
I am *so* thankful I decided to put a lifeline in before dropping stitches for this pattern. I got to the prep row, and sure enough, I screwed up somewhere and ended up with four stitches at the end instead of three. I tried going back along the row, but the damage was done, and I had to go all the way back to my lifeline. I only lost a week’s worth of knitting, not the whole thing, but the new lesson? More. Freaking. Lifelines. *sigh*
Knitting fanfic!
Okay, I don’t usually do fic reccomendations because I generally get my fanfic from everyone else’s recs, but if there’s even one SGA fan on my friends list who has not read this story, then this post is completely worth the space.
#435, The Atlantis Local Stitch’n'Bitch Chapter by rageprufrock
I…I don’t even have words. It’s knitting and SGA combined in one gloriously hilarious story and Rodney is just so…Rodney and John is all adorable and I have tears streaming down my face because I cannot stop laughing and cheering and wishing I could make out with Radek. Seriously, go and read. Go go go!
