[Biography]

Victor Garber was born on March 16, 1949 in Ontario, Canada. Although he has appeared in over 50 films and movies made for TV, Garber is best know for his roles on Broadway. His first stage success came in his native Canada, where he performed as Jesus in "Godspell" in a 1972 Toronto ensemble that also included Martin Short and Andrea Martin. A year later, Garber reprised the role in the film version of the musical. He has played many character roles, including the slick agent taking clients away from Michael J. Fox and Nathan Lane in Life with Mikey, Tom Hanks' friend who is rendered emotional by "The Dirty Dozen" in Sleepless in Seattle and Goldie Hawn's ex-husband in The First Wives Club. Garber is best known for playing Thomas Andrews, the man who designed the Titanic, in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, and can currently be seen playing Jack Bristow on ABC's Alias.
